The Official Royal House of Sori® is honored to share the success of our recent book presentation at the U.S. Embassy Guinea, where H.R.H. Princess Karen W.S. Brengettsy-Chatman delivered a powerful lecture on her newly published work, The Lost Crown of Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahima ibn Sori and The Sovereign's Redemption.
A Homecoming of Heritage
On December 10, 2025, Her Royal Highness returned to the ancestral homeland of Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahima Ibn Sori (1762-1829) to present this groundbreaking historical work at the American Center in Conakry. The presentation, hosted by the U.S. Embassy Guinea under the leadership of Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Mary E. Daschbach, represented a profound moment in our ongoing heritage preservation mission.
Princess Karen was joined by distinguished scholar Dr. Artemus Gaye, whose expertise and collaboration enriched the presentation and sparked meaningful dialogue about African heritage, diaspora history, and the enduring bonds between Guinea, the United States, and Liberia.
The "One Family" Initiative
This presentation was a cornerstone event in our "One Family" initiative—a three-nation partnership dedicated to strengthening cultural ties, advancing educational exchange, and honoring the shared history that unites Guinea, the United States, and Liberia. Through Prince Abdulrahman's remarkable journey from Futa Jallon royalty to American enslavement and his tireless pursuit of freedom and dignity, we illuminate the resilience of the human spirit and the power of heritage to transcend borders and generations.
A Message of Unity and Legacy
Her Royal Highness's lecture explored the extraordinary life of Prince Abdulrahman—a scholar, warrior, and leader who never abandoned his identity despite 40 years of enslavement. His story is one of sovereignty, faith, and the unbreakable connection between a man and his homeland. The Lost Crown reveals previously undocumented aspects of his life and legacy, drawing from extensive research, oral histories collected through The Whispering Voices project, and collaboration with leading academic institutions.
The American Center audience—comprised of scholars, diplomats, community leaders, and students—engaged deeply with the presentation, asking thoughtful questions and expressing profound appreciation for the meticulous research and passionate storytelling that bring Prince Abdulrahman's legacy to life.
Institutional Partnerships
This event reflects our ongoing collaboration with esteemed academic partners, including:
Princeton University
Trinity College
Hartford International University
Kofi Annan University of Guinea
These partnerships ensure that Prince Abdulrahman's story is preserved in the scholarly record and that future generations have access to this vital chapter of African and American history.
Looking Ahead
The Official Royal House of Sori® remains committed to advancing heritage preservation, educational excellence, and cultural diplomacy. This presentation at the U.S. Embassy Guinea marks a significant milestone in our work, but it is only one step in our continued journey to honor Prince Abdulrahman's legacy and strengthen the bonds between our nations.
We extend our profound gratitude to the U.S. Embassy Guinea, Dr. Artemus Gaye, and all who attended and supported this historic event.
