The Official Royal House of Sori, in collaboration with Dr. Artemus Gaye, is thrilled to announce the launch of The Walking in the Footsteps of a Prince Tour in 2026. This historic cultural journey aims to reconnect Afro-American descendants of Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahim ibn Sori with the ancestral, cultural, and spiritual landscapes that shaped their royal lineage.
This annual tour begins in Guinea, returns to Natchez, Mississippi for the annual Prince Abdulrahman Day Commemoration, and concludes in Hartford, Connecticut. Together, these locations create a powerful three-city cycle of remembrance, scholarship, and cultural restoration. Learn more about the tour here.
A Journey Rooted in Ancestral Memory
The tour opens each year in Timbo, Guinea, the birthplace of the Sori dynasty and the homeland of Prince Abdulrahman. Participants walk the historic paths of their ancestor, engage with cultural leaders, and experience the living traditions of the Fouta Djallon. This immersive experience allows us to connect deeply with our roots and understand the rich history that has shaped our identities.
From Guinea, the journey continues to the United States, where the Prince’s story took a dramatic and world-changing turn. This part of the tour emphasizes the resilience of our ancestors and the importance of remembering their struggles and triumphs.
Natchez, Mississippi: The Annual Prince Abdulrahman Day
Each year, the tour returns to Natchez, Mississippi, the city where Prince Abdulrahman lived during his captivity. Here, his extraordinary fight for freedom gained national attention. Natchez hosts the annual Prince Abdulrahman Day, a commemoration that honors his resilience, intellect, and enduring legacy.
This gathering brings together descendants, scholars, cultural institutions, and community partners to celebrate the Prince’s life and the unbroken lineage of the Sori royal house. It is a moment of unity, reflection, and celebration of our shared heritage.
Hartford, Connecticut: Completing the Journey
The tour concludes annually in Hartford, Connecticut, the city where Prince Abdulrahman spent his final years in America before his attempted return to Africa. Hartford serves as the final chapter of the tour, offering space for reflection, dialogue, and continued cultural exchange. Here, we can honor our past while looking forward to the future.
A Living Legacy Across Continents
The Walking in the Footsteps of a Prince Tour is more than a commemorative program. It is:
A cultural homecoming
A scholarly and diplomatic exchange
A bridge between Africa and the diaspora
A restoration of identity and historical truth
A celebration of the Sori dynasty’s enduring influence
Through this annual journey, the descendants of Prince Abdulrahman reclaim a story that was interrupted but never lost. Each step we take together strengthens our connection to our heritage and to each other.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As the world prepares for the 2026 kickoff, The Official Royal House of Sori invites descendants, cultural partners, academic institutions, and global supporters to join this transformative experience. Together, we honor the past, uplift the present, and build a future rooted in dignity, truth, and ancestral pride.
