Our Approach to Preservation
Mission Statement
The Institute is dedicated to preserving, advancing, and sharing the enduring legacy of Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahima Ibn Sori while promoting the history, heritage, and contributions of African royalty throughout the world. Through rigorous historical research, cultural stewardship, and public engagement, the Institute safeguards genealogical records, archival collections, oral traditions, and historical narratives to ensure their authenticity, continuity, and accessibility for future generations.
The Institute fulfills its mission through five core pillars: cultural preservation initiatives, educational lectures, museum and archival services, and public exhibitions.
Together, these programs foster scholarly research, inspire lifelong learning, and provide meaningful opportunities for communities, educators, students, and researchers to engage with African royal history and its enduring global impact.
Our Services
Cultural Preservation Events We organize leisure and cultural preservation events that honor African and African American heritage and connect communities to the historical legacy of Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahima Ibn Sori. These include commemorative gatherings marking key dates in the Prince's story - his enslavement, emancipation, and homegoing - as well as community heritage days, descendant reunions, and public programming developed in partnership with local historical societies, churches, and cultural organizations. Events are designed to be participatory rather than purely ceremonial, giving attendees direct engagement with the historical record through storytelling, guided discussion, and shared commemoration.
Educational Lectures and Workshops
Our lectures and workshops on African and African American history are grounded in archival research, documented oral tradition, and scholarly collaboration. Programming ranges from single-session public lectures on the Prince's life and the transatlantic diplomatic effort that secured his freedom, to multi-part workshop series covering genealogical research methods, primary-source literacy, and the broader history of the African diaspora in the American South. We develop programming for academic institutions, K-12 and university classrooms, community organizations, libraries, and general public audiences, and can tailor sessions to a specific historical theme, region, or audience level on request.
Museum Services
We provide museum services dedicated to the preservation, interpretation, and public presentation of historical materials connected to African and African American history and the legacy of the Sori dynasty. This includes the stewardship of archival documents, correspondence, photographs, and artifacts; the development of curated interpretive materials that place these holdings in historical context; and support for researchers and institutions seeking access to authenticated source material. Our museum work bridges private family archives and public scholarship, ensuring that primary documentation is preserved responsibly while remaining available to those studying this history.
Exhibitions
We organize educational, cultural, sporting, and entertainment exhibitions featuring educational information about African and African American history. Exhibitions translate historical research into public-facing formats - traveling displays, gallery installations, and themed programming built around specific chapters of the Prince's life and the diaspora communities connected to his legacy. Each exhibition is developed to be accessible to general audiences while remaining anchored in documented history, pairing visual and narrative material with the archival research behind it.
NICPAS operates in partnership with The Official Royal House of Sori (TORHOS) and the Root Nine Foundation and Institute, serving as the institutional home for the preservation and public education efforts connected to the Sori dynasty's historical legacy.
The World View
Sori Dynastic Archives Initiative (SDAI)
A comprehensive alliance to digitize, preserve, and catalogue all historical records, genealogical documents, legal codes, and cultural artifacts of West and North Africa. This initiative ensures global access to authenticated historical data while safeguarding originals in secure archival facilities.
Sori Cultural Heritage Preservation Program (SCHPP)
A global program dedicated to protecting and restoring cultural sites, monuments, and artifacts associated with the Sori Dynasty. Includes collaboration with local governments, cultural institutions, and international heritage organizations to maintain historical continuity.
The Sori Royal Archives & Digital Reclamation Lab
An initiative establishing educational partnerships, scholarships, and research fellowships in history, governance, and cultural studies connected to the Sori Dynasty. Focused on empowering new generations of scholars and cultural stewards worldwide.
Sori Dynastic Oral History Project (SDOHP)
A worldwide program to record and preserve oral histories, traditions, and accounts from descendants, custodians, and communities connected to the Sori Dynasty. This ensures that intangible cultural heritage is archived alongside documented records.

Global Project Alignment
All international initiatives are conducted under the governance and stewardship framework of The Official Royal House of Sori® (TORHOS) and in formal collaboration with the Root Nine Foundation and Institute (R9). Through its academic and cultural preservation mission, NICPAS serves as a coordinating body for research, archival stewardship, and scholarly engagement, helping to promote the integrity, authenticity, and responsible interpretation of historical materials associated with Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahima Ibn Sori, the House of Sori, and related historical narratives. Strategic initiatives are implemented through a phased development model extending from 2026 through 2030, beginning with institutional development and infrastructure, advancing to expanded partnerships, research collaboration, and public engagement, and culminating in the establishment of sustainable global networks dedicated to heritage preservation, education, and scholarly excellence.
