Join us for an in-depth exploration of the life of Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahima Ibn Sori, from his origins in Futa Jallon to his final years in Liberia, featuring Dr. Artemus Gaye, scholar, historian, and seventh great grandson of the Prince. This program moves beyond the summary version of his story to examine what the historical record actually shows, including unfamiliar details from before his captivity, his life in Natchez, and the circumstances surrounding his emancipation and return to Africa.
About Our Featured Speaker
Dr. Artemus Gaye is a Liberian born scholar and social ethicist, currently serving as a professor of ethics at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. A direct descendant of Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahima Ibn Sori, Dr. Gaye has spent over two decades researching his ancestor's history, beginning with family stories passed down during the Liberian Civil War.
