Who We Are NICPAS is the research and archival institute dedicated to the history of Prince Abdulrahman Ibrahima Ibn Sori and the Sori Dynasty. Where our broader mission connects this legacy to communities and the public, NICPAS is the part of that work focused specifically on scholarship: the research, documentation, and educational programming that keeps this history accurate, accessible, and properly recorded. NICPAS operates in coordination with The Official Royal House of Sori (TORHOS) and the Root Nine Foundation and Institute (R9) a 501(c)(3) enitity, taking on the archival and academic dimension of a shared mission carried across all three institutions.

 

How We Work Our work begins with primary sources, documents, records, oral accounts, and material culture connected to this history, and follows established research and archival practices to verify, catalogue, and preserve them. From there, we translate that research into forms the public and academic community can actually use: exhibitions, lectures, publications, and training for the next generation of researchers. We partner with universities, archives, museums, and cultural institutions wherever that partnership strengthens the accuracy or reach of the work. NICPAS does not certify or verify individual claims of lineage or descent. Our focus stays on the historical record itself.

 

What We Offer Archival Research and Documentation We research, digitize, and catalogue records and cultural materials connected to the Sori Dynasty, providing access to scholars, students, and the public. Cultural Exhibitions and Public Programming We design and present exhibitions and guided public programming that bring this history to general audiences as well as researchers. Lectures and Educational Talks Our researchers and partnering scholars deliver talks on the Sori Dynasty, West African history, and the African Diaspora to schools, institutions, and community groups.

 

Workshops and Interactive Learning We run hands on workshops that let participants engage directly with primary sources and historical research methods. Fellowships and Research Training

 

We offer fellowships, scholarships, and archival residencies to support scholars and students conducting original research in this field. Oral History Documentation

 

We record and archive oral histories and firsthand accounts from descendants and communities connected to the Sori Dynasty.

 

Publications and Scholarly Resources We produce scholarly materials, curricula, and public facing publications based on verified historical research.
